So, I gave in and got a one man fishing pontoon boat.  It's a nice boat.  A ton of pockets (3 sets on each pontoon), a mesh cargo area, anchoring system, transom for a trolling motor.  I took it out today and tried to go fishing.  It was a windy day and while on the lake I realized that I was going to be doing more rowing the actual fishing.  The wind was first pushing me down to the far end of the lake  Then to the far side.  Rowing back was a royal pain, especially since I don't do much rowing.  Yea, basically I spent 3 hours rowing. 

 

So, I now know that I need an anchor.  But I really don't know what kind of anchor I should get.  Someone at the lake suggested a Danforth anchor, but also said that just a grappling type of anchor will work.  I'm not sure a specific type is all that necessary as long as I get an anchor.  Of course, the extra weight won't be a benefit when I'm rowing.  But I'm still not sure which one and what size would be best.

 

I do have a small trolling motor (35 lb thrust) that really will help out.  I bet I could get going pretty fast using that.  I just need a battery.  Another $50 that I don't want to spend.  That can wait till spring.
