Pet Peeves - Inconsiderate Drivers

When driving around Western Washington, drivers here constantly cause my pet peeve light go off allot. Well, this morning while driving into work, it happened. Several times by the same inconsiderate driver. Obviously someone working at the same company that I work at. Here's what this moron did.

First pet peeve violation today: Blocking Intersections. I hate when people block intersections, so much so that I really try hard to avoid it and feel really embarrassed when I end up blocking someone. This morning, while approaching an intersection that people were blocking, I stopped at the intersection to wait for the intersection to clear. Now, obviously there's a space between me and the next car while I'm waiting for it to clear the intersection. If I were to pull forward, I'd be blocking the intersection. Well, some yahoo driving in a Sebring comes flying out of the left lane and merges right into my lane, in front of me, in the intersection. So, not only does he block the intersection, he does so after making an illegal lane change. I honked and let him know of my disapproval.

"That's it?" you ask. No, that's not it. Now, the reason traffic is backed up so much that one of the lanes blocks the intersection is because it's the right turning lane for another intersection a 100 yards down the road. Obviously people try to merge into the right lane from the left lane. Well, someone tries to do just this, a car or two in front of this Sebring. You would think that the guy driving the Sebring would let the other car in, but no. He's too busy climbing up the tailpipe of the car in front of him. So I let the other car in.

Naturally, he pulls into one of the company parking lots, so he's obviously working for the same company.  Apparently he's much more important than I am.

What do Climatologists know about Astronomy?

This is actually an interesting question for me.  Astronomy has been somewhat of a hobby for our family.  My father as written a book about a "visitor" of the solar system as well as several mathematics books.  I've always enjoyed learning about planetary science and typically will bore my family by hijacking the remote and watch tv shows about space.  Although, much if it isn't really new to me.

Why is this question interesting?  Well, simply put, climate change can be as much a result of a planets reaction to events to the planet (either internal events or events being caused by external sources).  For example, the recent study that NASA did that talks about Mars recent climate changes (global warming on Mars?).  Basically, the study talks about how the climate on Mars has increased due to storms causing the atmosphere to be more dusty, and thus not reflecting the suns energy back out into space.  These storms then are caused mainly because of the warmer climate, causing a vicious cycle.  Now, the climate change in Mars really hasn't been dramatic.  The temprature rose basically 1.17 degrees (F) in 20 years.

Now, how does this affect us?  I'm not 100% sure.  There's lots of complex variables to climate change and much of them affect another, all of which aren't really known at this point.
