Is there really a consensus?

Leave it up to those pesky Nobel Prize Winners to stir up the pot.  Newsbusters has a story (because none of the other mega media outlets want to go against "conventional wisdom") that basically is blowing holes in the "Global Warming" science that the UN is using.  It's a letter asking the UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to admit that there really isn't proof that CO2 is causing global warming.  The letter very simply states specific scientific data that refutes the UNs data.  It even challenges the UN to publish full data with charts.  I doubt that will happen.  The UN is too interested in asserting itself over the whole world.

Just so you don't try to give me that "More Scientists..." crap, here's the list of those who have signed the letter...
  • Hans Schreuder, Analytical Chemist, mMensa
  • Piers Corbyn, Astrophysicist UK, Dir. WeatherAction.com
  • Dr Don Parkes, Prof. Em. Human Ecology, Australia
  • Svend Hendriksen, Nobel Peace Prize 1988 (shared), Greenland

Check it out, it's well written and gets straight to the point.

My new HotSpot@home service

So, I'm beginning to really hate paying for services that just cost more than they are worth.  Seriously, how many services do you have that are just unnecessary?  I mean, take a look.  Mobile Phones, if you have a land line, isn't one of them superfluous?  Cable or Satellite is becoming unnecessary if you have broadband.  Most of the TV shows that you can watch on TV are available over the Internet, even some DVD rental outfits are letting you rent and watch movies on your computer.  TiVo.  Now, there's one that's a throwback from a different era.  The reality is that you can do much of what you need if you have a good enough internet connection.

So, being tired of having to pay huge bills for things that I rarely use (Cable, Phone), I'm looking around for alternatives.  Well, I asked around at work and got various responses.  Some people have gotten rid of their traditional phone service for a VoIP (or Voice over IP) service.  That is, phone over the internet.  Lot's of people have used Vonage, others have used Skype.  Others have used random VoIP providers.  All cost between $15 and $25.

Well, I'm also a T-Mobile customer (yeah, mobile phone plus traditional land line is superfluous) and they have this service that they are rolling out called Talk Forever HotSpot@home.  It's just basically a VoIP service that uses one of your additional lines.  And just like adding an additional line to your family service, it costs only $10 for unlimited usage.  Not bad.  Well, I signed up today and set it up tonight.  Pretty easy too.  Just stick the SIM into the router, activate the service, plug in the router to the internet and power and in a few minutes, you have a new line.  Not hard at all, until you decide to make the T-Mobile router the main router and remove the Verizon supplied Actiontec router.  That's for another post though (if I get around to it).

The next step is to call the customer support to begin the process of moving my phone number to the service.  So far, I'm pretty happy.
